Plan Your Journey

Practical notes for international wildlife tourists, Indian travellers, photographers, birders, researchers and film teams.

Best time to visit

Comfort on the water is often better in the drier, cooler months. Monsoon remakes the river and can close or change access. We confirm seasonality when you enquire — we do not sell a single ‘perfect month’ as science.

How to reach Assam

Most international and domestic guests arrive via Guwahati (air and rail). Transfers to the river are arranged after dates are held. Exact meeting points are shared with confirmed guests.

What to bring

Sun protection, a warm layer, non-slip shoes, binoculars, a dry bag, identification, and any personal medication. We send a packing note with availability.

Clothing

Neutral colours, modest layers, a windproof shell, and a hat with a strap. Avoid bright whites that flare in photographs and anything you cannot get wet.

Photography equipment

A body you know, a longer lens if you have one, rain cover, spare batteries, and cards. We do not hire a full kit as standard — ask if you need support.

Safety

Life jackets, a briefing, weather calls, and the right to turn back. River travel is not a theme-park ride. Medical facilities vary by stretch; declare conditions when you book.

Responsible tourism

Read the ethics page before you travel. Distance, no chase, no swim, no feed. Guests who will not accept the code are not the right guests.

Accommodation

Hotel and lodge partners will be listed when contracts are in place. Until then, we advise on neighbourhoods and standards without naming unverified properties.

Transport

Airport meets, city cars and river craft are planned as a chain. Live vehicle tracking is a later-phase product, not a current feature.

Custom and private itineraries

Families, universities, film units and private charters are welcome. A 7-day Assam wildlife and river expedition is on the roadmap — register interest rather than expecting a published departure calendar.
